Dr Paula Redmond Clinical Psychologist

Hello! I’m Paula

HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist, DClinPsych, MSc, MA

Background

I am a Clinical Psychologist, based in Surrey in the UK. I worked for over 15 years in the NHS, primarily in older adult mental health services, supporting individuals and families affected by complex mental health problems and dementia.

More recently I have established an independent practice focusing on workplace wellbeing, including prevention and recovery from burnout and work-related trauma.

I host the When Work Hurts podcast which explores important and inspiring stories, insights and interventions for supporting ourselves and each other when work hurts.

Inspiration

Throughout my NHS career I have had the privilege of working alongside many dedicated and inspiring professionals from a range of disciplines.

I have witnessed and personally experienced the many challenges that health professionals face trying to keep afloat in the midst of often overwhelming demands, toxic work cultures and unrelenting self-imposed expectations.

I am passionate about supporting professionals to find ways of safeguarding their wellbeing in the midst of these pressures, and enabling workplaces to be and do better for their staff.

The golden threads that run through my work are Compassion, Connection and Creativity.

Services

I work independently in private practice with both individual professionals and organisations.  I have a passion for helping health professionals, but I work with a range of people and difficulties.  I offer therapeutic coaching and reflective supervision to individuals and a range of services for organisations including reflective practice and post-incident support.

My Approach

The golden threads that run through my work are:

  • Compassion – for ourselves and each other – as a commitment to alleviating suffering
  • Connection – to our physical and emotional needs, our people, our values and our planet
  • Creativity – as a source of joy, restoration and even resistance!

My Values

I believe social justice is fundamental to the ethos of being a psychologist. I am committed to equality, anti-racist work and environmental accountability. I am committed to making conscious choices consistent with these values as a clinician, small business owner, and citizen. I am committed to the life-long process of learning and un-learning that tackling these issues requires.

My Mission

My mission is to help professionals live their best lives and do their best work, in line with their values.

I want to enable organisations to provide psychologically safe workplaces where staff can thrive as people and as professionals.

I want society to benefit from the ripple effects of compassionate and humane work places and systems.
