Frequently Asked Questions

Where and when do you offer sessions?

All sessions are online using Zoom. I offer sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 9.30am and 1.00pm. Traditionally therapy takes place at the same time each week, but I am happy to offer flexible appointments to work around you.

What type of therapy do you offer?

I am trained to provide a range of different psychological therapies. This enables me to develop a bespoke treatment plan based on your particular needs and preferences, as well as the current evidence-base.  The models I use most often are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focussed Therapy (CFT), and EMDR.  I also draw on cognitive-behavioural, psychodynamic and systemic approaches. I enjoy using creative tools in therapy and find this can be very helpful in supporting emotional expression and processing, so if this is something that appeals to you we can also explore this in sessions.

How many sessions will I need?

This is different for everyone, depending on your situation and what your goals for therapy are. Our first one or two sessions will focus on developing a shared understanding of the things you are struggling with and your therapy goals. I will then offer a recommendation about the sort of approach, and number of sessions, I think will be helpful. I usually suggest working in blocks of 6 sessions, and we will review the need for further sessions regularly.

Some people find that a handful of sessions is all they need, while others find it helpful to have ongoing support over a number of months.

What's the next step?

I offer a free initial 20 minute consultation which enables us to think together about what you need, and whether I am the right therapist for you. Research shows that the most significant factor in the success of therapy is the rapport we have with our therapists. Although it takes time to develop trust in any relationship it is important that you feel this is possible. It is also important to ensure that your therapist has the right expertise for what you need. I will always signpost you to another therapist or psychologist if I don’t feel I have the right skill set for what you need.

If we decide to go ahead we will arrange our first session. I use an online booking system that enables clients to book and re-arrange sessions directly into my diary.
